The mission of the Commonwealth Institute of Kentucky (CIK) is to inform policy and practice that will improve the health of populations in Kentucky and beyond by facilitating and supporting transdisciplinary collaborations for research and data analytics.
CIK serves as a transdisciplinary collaborative for population health improvement, policy, and analytics by leveraging expertise in the School of Public Health & Information Sciences and engaging academic, clinical, and community partners. The primary operations of the institute include community-based research, health policy support, and data warehousing and analytics.
CIK also works with faculty from the University of Louisville and other institutions to become Commonwealth Scholars. These scholars who, as recognized affiliates of CIK, comprise the base of expertise on which CIK draws for transdisciplinary research projects focused on population health improvement, policy, and analytics.
